An exquisitely produced, collectable book of erotica, 61 Pimlico tells the story of Henry Halers, Victorian photographer of the nude. One hundred years after the British police confiscated and destroyed Haler's work, Bill Jay miraculously, and perhaps too miraculously, unearthed the photographer's journal at a yard sale, discovering photographs hidden within its cover. Through Haler's writings, and the surviving images, 61 Pimlico, relates the experiences of a wrongly persecuted photographer. If true, its an incredible find. If not, it may be Bill Jay's finest contribution to the literature of photography Nazraeli Press, 1997 96 pp., 9 tipped-in duotone illustrations, 6" x 9".
